Conservative organisation in Stamford can be traced back for well over a century, with records showing an established Stamford Conservative Association by 1910. Over the decades, the organisation evolved through the old Rutland and Stamford Conservative Association and later the Grantham and Stamford Conservative Association, adapting as constituency boundaries changed. The modern Stamford Welland Branch was formed in 2003, with founder members including Philip Sagar and the late Cllr Mike Exton, both of whom gave many years of service to the Party and the local community.
Today, Stamford Welland is a thriving branch of the Rutland & Stamford Conservative Association, continuing that long tradition through campaigning, fundraising, political discussion and a strong programme of social events. The branch supports Conservative candidates and elected representatives, brings members and supporters together, and plays an active role in political life across Stamford and the surrounding area, carrying forward more than a century of Conservative organisation into a new generation.
